The R-Tech Advantage

The R-Tech Advantage

I don't know if such things as magic and bad luck exist but every once in a while the fates and the ill winds combine to make my life miserable. I suspect that you too can relate to this in your own experiences. Times when your best efforts to please your patient are frustrated by accidents, late shipments, the poor work of labs and other suppliers. I don't know why it is a rule that when things go wrong the harder you try the worse it gets. Since these things do occur from time to time I wanted to share our philosophy with you so that you will know what to expect from John & Mike Wiltrout when things go wrong.

Our first approach to this problem is of a preventive nature. We have found that by doing our very best the first time we can minimize the problem; doing our very best means using high quality parts that we have found to be to a high degree reliable. It means thoroughly understanding the problem with your unit before we try to repair it. It is human nature to jump to conclusions and to assume that your problem is the same as we have encountered in the past with similar units. Only by listening to you and your staff attentively can we begin the problem solving process with the proper frame of open mind. Doing our best also means working with the repair until it works right and feels right. This means that sometimes we have to back up and try a different approach. Being able to tell if a repair feels right is something that comes to you with time and experience. I am sure that each one of you has a sense of feel for your dental work. The times when you just know that the restoration work you have done is the best that could be done. We get the same sense when we do a repair job and know that it will last probably better than the original equipment. The final aspect of doing a good job has to do with testing the equipment. We try to put every piece of equipment repaired through a variety of tests to make certain that it will work for you when you want to use it. We take a strong personal pride in the work we do which makes the work we do much more than just a job for us.

If our first approach to a problem has failed and things have started to go wrong we immediately react to minimize the damage to our client. This usually means emergency after hours work to remedy the problem and keep the clinic in operation. We then reevaluate the original service work and try to determine why it failed. Corrective measures are then taken. Throughout this process we keep you our client apprised of the situation. With the complexity of today's dental equipment comes a very difficult repair situation. The intermittent problem is amongst the most difficult to diagnose and repair. With simple machines you have a situation of work or no work but as the complexity increases the intermittent problem becomes more common place. I am often glad not to have to deal with the intermittent problems that you must face when dealing with the human body. This has got to be in many cases the ultimate challenge. The solution to intermittants is often to isolate the general area of the problem and then to just replace all the components in that section. This is often the most cost effective way to eliminate the problem and minimize diagnostic and service related expenses. We do not want to become black box replacers. It is our goal to replace the $10.00 transistor on your units brain board not the entire $400.00 board whenever possible. One example of this is the brain board of the Pelton Crane Chairman Chair. We have never yet encountered one of these boards that could not be repaired. Unfortunately the replacement of this expensive brain board is one of the most common examples of repair by unqualified service people.

OK so you have had us in to do that repair and after a couple of times we have come, said it was fixed and low and behold the problem is back. Please call us back. We will understand and appreciate your frustration. Believe me that with the level of pride we take in our work you will not be anywhere as upset and concerned as we will be. In situations like this one we will once again evaluate the problem and then propose options to break us out of the cycle. I had to chuckle the other day when it was reported to me that some of the salesmen calling on offices were reporting that we could not service certain brands or types of equipment. We have not to this day found any problem servicing the variety of brands that exist in our clinics. We have even been able to get parts and fix the units of that big company that went out of business overnight leaving all their clients high and dry. Very often we have parts sources that step past the dental supplier to the original industrial manufacturer. We are in the repair and servicing business and regardless of your equipment or who sold it to you we will take care of it for you.

We at R-Tech Dental will not let you down or abandon you when you have equipment problems. Give us a call you can count on us.

Rick Liedl, Service Technician West-Central Wisconsin

I'm Rick Liedl, the newest member of the R-Tech Dental team.  I grew up in the Chippewa Falls area.  I graduated in 1982 from St. Bedes Academy.  I lived in Milwaukee for 2 years.  I attended Tech college for 2 years for advanced gas welding & 3rd power.  I was employed for 10 years at the Leinenkugels brewery.  I left that dead end job and started my own pressure washing business for 3 years, I then sold that and started a detailing business.  I ran that successfully for 6 years and finally sold that as well.  I joined R-Tech in April of 2005, and I love the job.  It is very challenging and the people are great.

Staff Member

John Wiltrout's brother, Rob, works at the facility in Chippewa Falls and keeps everything running smoothly.
